WHICH DRIVING LICENCE IS REQUIRED TO RENT?
To rent a scooter up to 125cc, a valid Category B driving licence (car licence) is required.
To rent any motorcycle over 125cc, a valid motorcycle licence is required. International visitors must also hold a valid International Driving Permit (IDP), where applicable under Italian law.
If your driving licence was issued by a non-EU country, a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) is required.
Please note: an International Driving Permit (IDP) is only a translation of your original driving licence. Therefore, both your original licence and the IDP must be presented at the time of rental.
With us, you may rent a scooter without an International Driving Permit, provided that the Italian authorities can read and understand your original driving licence. Licences written in non-Latin scripts (such as Chinese, Thai, Arabic, Cyrillic, etc.) are not accepted without an International Driving Permit.
If your driving licence was issued outside the European Union, you may not ride without a valid International Driving Permit (IDP), where required under Italian law.
Italian police may occasionally exercise discretion in these situations; however, if a fine is issued, it can be very expensive (approximately €350). Therefore, renting without a required International Driving Permit is at your own risk, and we cannot be held responsible for any fines or penalties resulting from riding without a valid IDP.
Digital driving licences displayed only on a mobile phone are not accepted (except in the limited cases permitted under Italian law). You must present your original physical driving licence at the time of rental.
Please make sure your driving licence is valid, not expired, and clearly legible.
We do not accept photocopies of driving licences. We also do not accept foreign documents that certify an extension of a licence’s validity, as these are not legally valid in Italy.

If you are involved in an accident caused by another vehicle, we will, if necessary, arrange to collect both you and the vehicle. The recovery costs will be charged to the other party’s insurance company.
If the vehicle breaks down through no fault of your own, we will, where possible, provide a replacement vehicle. If this is not possible, we will arrange to collect both you and the vehicle.
If you need to pay for transportation (such as a train or taxi) to return due to the breakdown, those reasonable costs will be reimbursed.
If an accident or breakdown caused by the renter requires the vehicle to be recovered, a recovery fee of €150.00 will apply, plus €3.00 per kilometre, calculated from the rental station where the vehicle was collected to the recovery location.
